Annemie Vandaele was born and raised in a picturesque Belgian village close to the North Sea. There, her love for language and people grew, gradually and along different paths. Those paths led her to Leuven in 1996, where she became a licentiate in Germanic languages and a candidate in religious studies. She worked as a communication manager and a teacher, and at present, she is the pedagogical director of a secondary school. She also gives lectures for children and adults, and she is a mother of two.
In her books, Annemie likes to combine her passion for language, children, and young people. Based in the Netherlands, Wen Sylvestre is an illustrator with Asian and European roots. She works in both digital and traditional media and loves to combine the two. In her art, she explores emotion and atmosphere, texture and flow. She embraces the gentle, vulnerable side of the human experience, with a bit of humor thrown in. Nature, culture, history, dance, and spirituality inspire and influence her work.
